Hollywood United Methodist Church is pleased to welcome Rev. Mary Scifres as our Interim Lead Pastor beginning April 7, 2026.

Rev. Scifres is an ordained elder in The United Methodist Church with more than three decades of ministry experience, including a long and trusted history of guiding congregations through seasons of transition. She is widely known for her ability to bring clarity, stability, and renewed purpose to churches navigating change, helping communities move forward with both faithfulness and confidence.

In addition to her pastoral leadership, Mary works nationally as an executive leadership coach, consultant, and teacher in organizational development, specializing in helping leaders and teams strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and align around shared mission and vision. She is the author of more than 75 published works and is known for equipping congregations and leaders with practical, life-giving tools for growth, healing, and transformation.

Mary’s approach to interim ministry is both pastoral and strategic. She is deeply committed to caring for individuals and the congregation as a whole, while also working alongside church leadership to strengthen systems, restore trust, and build a healthy foundation for the future. Her work is marked by a steady presence, thoughtful listening, and a clear sense of direction—qualities that help congregations move through challenging seasons with grace and hope.

Mary and her spouse, Rev. B. J. Beu, share a passion for ministry, writing, and creative worship, and they often collaborate in their work. Together, they bring a spirit of partnership and encouragement to the communities they serve.

As we enter this new season, we give thanks for the gifts Mary brings among us and look forward with anticipation to the ways God will continue to lead and strengthen Hollywood United Methodist Church in the months ahead.
