Welcome to Hollywood United Methodist Church!
We are so glad you’re here. We hope to meet you soon.
Below are some quick answers to questions you might have. Feel free to browse around the rest of the website to learn more.
Who leads the church?
Rev. Mary Scifres is our Interim Lead Pastor.
How is Hollywood United Methodist Church different than other churches?
HUMC has been rooted in Hollywood at the corner of Franklin and Highland Avenue for almost 100 years. We’re not a perfect church, but we’re a committed one — committed to welcoming people others have turned away, to asking honest questions about faith, and to showing up in this city for one another with open hands, open hearts, and open minds.
Artists, activists, skeptics, families, longtime members, and first-time visitors all find their way through our doors. What holds us together isn’t having all the answers — it’s a shared belief that love and justice matter, that everyone belongs, and that nobody should have to go it alone.
What can I expect on Sundays?
Worship services are Sunday mornings at 11:00am. We’re located in the heart of Hollywood at Franklin and Highland Avenues, with free on-site parking.
Are children welcome?
Of course! Nursery care is available for children birth–2 years. For children 2 and older, age-specific programming begins during the 11am service — a children’s message followed by music, story time, teaching, and small group discussion.
